At first their composition comprises of crude words with straightforward illustrations. Later in the year, they advance to words hung together to frame more mind boggling stories. Our teachers utilize hands-on exercises to build up a comprehension of tasks and calculation.
The PYP is a transformative experience for students, teachers and whole school communities. PYP students learn how to take control of their learning, teachers collaborate to deepen student- learning and increase their confidence and self-motivation. The whole school communityincluding parents are viewed as partners in learning and actively contribute to a holistic educational experience.
The PYP curriculum follows an inquiry approach to learning and teaching. The curriculum is structured under 6 Transdisciplinary Themes :
During the year, under each Theme, the students inquire into one Unit of Inquiry. Unit of Inquiry focusses on the specific concept and when appropriate it is integrated into other subject areas following a transdisciplinary approach. Students along the inquiry develop a set of skills and attributes essential to succeed in a changing challenging world.
Also, within each Unit of Inquiry, students and teachers identify together what they want to know, what they already know, what they need to know and how best they might find that out.
The emphasis on real life situations, decision-making, problem solving, research and action through these Unit of Inquiries nurtures the students into global citizens of the world.
In the final year of PYP, Students carry out an extended, in-depth, collaborative project known as the PYP exhibition. This involves students working collaboratively to conduct an in-depth inquiry into real life issues or problems. The exhibition represents a unique and significant opportunity for the students to exhibit the attributes of the IB learner profile throughout their engagement with the PYP. It also provides schools and students with a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the transition of learners to the next phase of their education.
