Mr. Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar is a distinguished public servant and senior administrator with over four decades of exemplary service in national security, governance, and public administration. An alumnus of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad, he also holds an MPhil in Defence and Strategic Studies and is an alumnus of the National Defence College.
A retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the 1983 batch, Mr. Bhatnagar has held several of the most critical leadership positions in the Government of India, including Director General of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and Director General of the Narcotics Control Bureau. He has also served overseas as Advisor to the Government of Mauritius. Most recently, he served as Advisor to the Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir, where he was entrusted with a wide-ranging portfolio that included School Education, Higher Education, Skill Development, Health and Medical Education, Infrastructure, and key governance departments during a historic phase of transformation.
Renowned for his strategic acumen, institutional leadership, and commitment to transparent and accountable governance, Mr. Bhatnagar has played a pivotal role in reengineering and strengthening systems, driving systemic reforms, and leading large organisations through complex challenges. His contributions have been recognised with the Indian Police Medal for Meritorious Service and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service.
Beyond his professional pursuits, Mr. Bhatnagar is a keen sportsman enjoys playing tennis , golf and values spending time with his grandchildren, reflecting his belief in balance, excellence,lifelong learning, and strong family values.
