Unleashing Creativity through the Atelier Approach: Exploring the Visual Arts Studio for Primary Years Programme

Prometheus Schools’ Early Years students engaged in a collaborative art activity in the visual arts studio.

At Prometheus School, we believe that art is an essential part of a child’s education. Art education helps children to develop their creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills, while also promoting social and emotional development. That’s why we have a dedicated Visual Arts Studio for the Primary  Years Programs (PYP), where we use the Atelier Approach to foster artistic expression and learning.

What is the Atelier Approach?

The Atelier Approach is a teaching method that was developed in Reggio Emilia, Italy. The approach is based on the idea that children learn best through hands-on experiences and experimentation. In the Visual Arts Studio at Prometheus School, we use the Atelier Approach to encourage children in PYP, which include programs for mom and me, for ages 1.5 to 2.5 years, to explore a variety of materials, techniques, and ideas in a supportive and collaborative environment.
